Punta del Este Season 2014 is here!
Beyond all the speculation, Punta del Este is ready to capture the attention and time of those who choose to spend time in the eastern coasts of Uruguay during 2014.
New culinary offerings, remodeled hotels, a varied offer of musical events and international artists, extra regional fashion shows, polo and golf events take place. In addition to the most varied festivals, art exhibits and exclusive new luxury shop windows are present along the entire coast of Punta del Este and welcome famous people and tourists to Punta del Este 2014 making it the best place to be.
The arrival once again of French DJ David Guetta, with a performance at the Punta del Este Summer Festival in The Jagüel on the 4th of January is the most anticipated event of the season. Thousands of people will see the French DJ playing all his hits, accompanied by the Australian Nervo twins that are not only DJ’s but models, singers and composers as well.
At the western end of the Punta del Este in Punta Ballena and with another style, surrounded by nature and intimacy performances at the well known Jazz club “Medio y Medio” takes place with the presence of outstanding Jazz musicians of the region. Among the leading figures are the Spanish Jazz musician Pedro Guerra, Beilinson Okay, Paulinho Moska, Ruben Rada, Kevin Johansen, Luis Salina and David Lebon to name a few.
Also on January 9, the 18th edition of the International Festival of Jazz will start in the El Sosiego that concentrates high level Jazz figures from all over the world who will be present at Punta del Este 2014.
On the second half of January, and for the third consecutive year, the Vitamin water party is also confirmed to be happening in the stunning landscape of La Caracola by Laguna Garzón. This event is a celebration of a day on the beach with a big party. Jade Jagger, daughter of Rolling Stone singer Mike Jagger and Roger Taylor, drummer for the legendary British band Duran Duran attended last year and more surprises are expected to be in Punta del Este 2014.
Placido Domingo and the famous soprano Luz del Alba will be opening the Punta Classic at the Fundación Atchugarry on the 18th of January. For those who will stay longer in Punta del Este, Ivette Sangalo will be at Hotel Conrad on the 8th of February and should not be missed.
Fashion and Art
Museums and Art Galleries will surprise everyone in Punta del Este 2014, the photography of Aurelio Amendola will take place at Fundación Atchugarry, Sunset Fashion Art on the 11th of January. Punta Arte Internacional will be held on Gorlero Street during the whole summer. Pablo Valenzuela at FTV Beach House is displaying 15 different and very creative events with celebrities from Fashion TV Worldwide. For film lovers, the JIFF, a free event will display movies that have not been yet shown in Uruguay at sunset until the 12th of January in José Ignacio.
Sports
In sports, the classic golf tournament to benefit the Fundación Alejandra Forlán took place this week at Golf Club of La Barra, the Seven a Side on Saturday the 4th, the football stars on Sunday the 5th of January at the Campus of Maldonado, the great 40th 10 km race “Corrida de San Fernando” on Monday, January 6th with six thousand runners. The South Atlantic Circuit Rolex Cup, which will begin its tour on Tuesday the 14th in Puerto de Olivos – Buenos Aires – with the port of Punta del Este as final destination. The Rip Curl surfing tournament is happening on the 16th and several kite surf events in the lake Garzon- near Jose Ignacio.
Food
Seafood, sushi, risotto, lamb, the famous caiporoskas and wines are the most popular in Punta del Este 2014. A variety of restaurant offerings are making curious and hungry tourists drive west to east in search of the best places in Punta del Este.
