New Year arrived in Uruguay and we start to see many celebrities in Punta Del Este.

Air traffic has increased to and from the International Airport in Laguna Del Sauce. American billionaires and Europeans arrived in private jets capable of flying nonstop from London or New York to Laguna Del Sauce.
An Arab millionaire landed in Laguna Del Sauce Airport in Punta Del Este in a private flight from Sao Paulo this week with a group of nine women and four men, one of them his butler. Women are entrepreneurs who have business with the Arab oil businessman and they are staying at the best suites of Conrad Hilton Hotel.
The glamour of Americans and Europeans reach the most popular resorts of Maldonado and are getting all the attention. Among them is the publicist Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, the leading advertising agency in the world with 153,000 employees and businesses in over one hundred countries. Sorrell is a regular seen in Jose Ignacio. He chooses this time of the year to escape the winter. The British publicist is with his family and a group of friends, all of them powerful businessmen.
Visitors include businessmen and film producers of American industry. Among them is the Argentine filmmaker Fernando Sulichin, who filmed with Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone, among others. He is friends with Sean Penn and personal friend of French businessman Antoine Arnault, Louis Vuitton emporium heir. Also a large contingent of Argentinean illustrious visitors choose Uruguay to spend their holidays this year with a notorious absence of Brazilians.

 

 

 

 

 

Events everywhere in Punta Del Este

Christmas was quieter than New Year´s even with visitors celebrating at their private residences and nightclubs with over ten Mega parties with a backstage of a magnificent full moon that was not seen during Christmas time since 1977.

Jose Ignacio

Jose Ignacio, the favorite resort of artists and entrepreneurs is getting ready for a summer that will, among its novelties, give access to the newly opened bridge over the lake Garzón. The first activity planned for these days was the classic Lacoste party on the beach and was by invitation exclusively.

La Susana in Jose Ignacio is becoming the place to see and be seen, from lunch till bedtime, sunsets are their best hour to try a red caipirinha or sushi with sake and nigiri on top! Stephane Pompougnac the best of the chill out music from Hotel Costes, Paris was there on 3rd of January.

Manantiales

The beach and restaurants of Manantiales are still for young people and long nights. Negroni is now on the beach of Selenza Parador, after a great opening night they have been very busy every night. We have heard very good critics of the Saint Tropez famous Bagatelle’s food and ambiance, especially for lunch at Montoya beach.
If you like surf and movies you will be thrilled to know that in Manantiales they are organizing the second Film and Surf Festival on January 3rd and 4th.

Art

For those who enjoy art, every Friday of January as from 8pm Gallery Nights offers free transport to connect 25 ateliers and galleries from La Barra to Punta Piedras starting at OH! La Barra.
Also the second edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair in Punta Del Este will be held on 5th and January 8th in La Barra.
The International Comtemporary Art Fair is organized with a selection of major local and international galleries and the program prepared a detailed presentation by Martin Craciun with lectures such as: ” Everything you ever wanted to know about the gallery (and I was afraid to ask) ” or ” The fiction of architecture or architecture of fiction ”, with the Argentine artist Leandro Erlich and Paraguayan architect Gloria Cabral.
The program will include gatherings with discussions between artists and presentations of their work, with artists such as Brazilian Cao Guimarães and concerts, as a suite for piano and veiled pulse (electronic instruments) by Luciano Supervielle. There will be a unique presentation of the triad Barradas, Figari and Torres García at the Art.
Meanwhile, Ralli Museum offers unique displays of Manuel Pailós and the Espartaco Group of Argentine, as well as the permanent displays of Botero, Dalí and statues Joseph Robinson.
A magnificent display of painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, music and photography defined the Art Experience Tour, the exhibition promoted the integration of artists, gallery owners, collectors and art lovers in specially chosen environments. This live art show, which was launched at The Grand Hotel in Punta Del Este, ended on December 29 in Jose Ignacio, in the exclusive gated community of Laguna Escondida, with the cocktail and auction of “Great Masters Emerging Art and Artists that was held at the Conrad Hotel.

Feeling sporty?

Golf is the chosen activity this summer. Diego Forlán gave the initial tee shoot, who played last Friday at an event to benefit the foundation of his sister in La Barra Golf Club. Club Del Lago is offering free lessons for children and adults.
Kitesurfing is without doubts the sport of the summer. If you want to see hundreds of colors in the sky wait for a windy day and drive to Laguna Garzón. Cross the new bridge to Rocha and grab a bite on the other side at Las Garzas resto while watching kites on the sky.

As for adventure, sports mountain bike in motion and getting adepts offering the great views of the winding hilly roads or fields near Punta Del Este. There are several guided Bike Tours as well, from Punta Ballena, Lussich Arboretum towards the port.
One of the classic sport Punta Del Este is the international 10k run of San Fernando on 6th of January, linking the cities of Maldonado and Punta Del Este. As for water activities, the Yacht Club Punta del Este offers a sailing school for youth and adults to transmit to future sailors basic knowledge of navigation.
Every year, people from all around the world enjoy many activities in and around Punta del Este and become interested in real estate investments as well.
