Bliss! is the brainchild of Max Hauf and Katrin Wondra, the creative duo behind MAKA Vienna, a renowned Austrian restaurant. It began as a small idea during the 2020 lockdown, when Max, recently returned from Japan, was experimenting with flavors at home while Katrin left ingredients for him in the hallway. The initiative quickly became a culinary phenomenon, captivating the Austrian capital with its authenticity, depth of flavor, and vibrant aesthetic.
With this new opening, the duo reaffirms their connection to Punta del Este, where they made their mark during the 2022/23 season with their offering at Skyspace Park. Robert Kofler, the project’s spokesperson, is an Austrian polo patron, player, and entrepreneur who divides his time among Uruguay, Argentina, and Europe. In 2020, he and his wife, Edda, co-founded Posada Ayana in José Ignacio, Uruguay—a boutique design hotel that blends modern architecture, sustainability, and art. The hotel features Skyspace Ta Khut by acclaimed artist James Turrell, the first independent Skyspace in South America, which has become a cultural landmark.
